Gameplay Inspiration

Monster Warriors encapsulates what fans love about the monster-taming and fighting games in its gampeplay. Players have the creative freedom to make 50 card decks for each member of their monster team, encompassing every attack, item, or piece of equipment a monster can use as they would in a monster rpg. Monsters can practically use any card for any strategy in the game with few limitations. Combat mirrors the button-mashing experience of fighting games by playing attack cards in a certain pattern to unlock special moves called attack combos. Monsters are capable of  landing critical hits, blocking, evading, or even playing mind games with their opponent. This card game was designed with the sole intention of making the player feel as if they’re a part of a real monster battle, calling the shots in person.

Combat System

This card game uses a simple multilayered Rock, Paper, Scissor system where players compare attack cards in a match-up. There are seven attack moves: Area (ARA), Burst (BUR), Fly (FLY), Grapple (GRP), Melee (MEL), Missile (MIS), and Spray (SPR). The card with the stronger attack move will land the Hit while the other card Misses. The winning card will remain upright while the losing card moves sideways. In addition, the winner of the match-up will inflict damage, earn fighting spirit, earn power, and be able to activate its card effects.

Attack Combos

When you play attack cards you’re creating an attack pattern with each card you place on the Fight Lane from left to right. An attack pattern is a series of attacks a monster performs in a certain order. This attack pattern is what determines whether or not a monster can perform an attack combo. Unlike normal attack cards, attack combos must complete an attack condition to be played. Attack combos give you a big advantage because it allows you attack your opponent multiple times in a single fight.

A game made by a Monster Fan

“Monsters have always been so cool to me. I think my obsession started with watching Power Rangers and Digimon as a kid. I was such a Digifan I drew dozens of my own monsters probably close to a hundred or so. All the monsters you will see in this game are actually re-imaginings of those old drawings.”
